Commit to your streak: stop alternating wins and losses

The math
A held streak pays bonus gold every round, up to +3. Alternating resets the counter, so a drifting 3-3 can pay less than a committed 1-5.
How to commit
Winstreaking: build the strongest board even if it costs interest. Losestreaking: spend nothing and bank everything.
